answers to frequently asked questions

how do we reserve our date with you?

first step is to contact us, we will take it from there - we'll get back to you promptly to review your details and desires. booking us and securing your date is fast and easy: after we talk through your wedding details, we will send you a quote electronically which you can accept and e-sign your contract, and pay your retainer online - that process takes just a few minutes. to be fair to all prospective clients, we can't hold any dates without a signed contract and retainer.

how far in advance should we book you?

we sometimes receive inquires up to two years in advance, and often multiple inquires for the same popular dates. we recommend you start thinking about a photographer as soon as your date is set. remember, since your photographer can go to any venue, you don't need to wait to book the venue before booking your photographer - the date is the most important thing to a photographer

unlike a caterer that can make more food, or a florist who can make more flower arrangements, a photographer can't make more time - once they are booked for a date, they are no longer available to you. don't be disappointed! book early, get the photographer you want.

our busiest wedding months are typically may, june, october and december.

why is an initial consultation important?

our first step is to meet with you, in person or virtually by Skype, Google Hangouts, or phone, to discuss your vision for your wedding photography and what features you desire in your wedding collection. we will also want to understand how you are thinking about using your photographs...

from beautiful heirloom quality wedding albums to custom wall art for your home, to social media and on-line galleries to share with friends and family, and the right digital files. we are full service wedding photographers - we will help you through every step of the process.

we saw mention of bridal encore sessions, what is that?

a bridal encore session, sometimes called a "day after" photo session, allows you to have more photographs created after your wedding, usually the next day. why? wedding days are often very busy, with the entire day often scheduled to the minute. you may not have time to create all the photographs you wanted.

a bridal encore session allows us to create some unique, different and amazing photographs, maybe in places or doing things that you would not have wanted to try on your wedding day because you did not want to take a chance on ruining your wedding dress, or, you just wanted to do something fun, like walk along the shore of a lake with your bare feet in the water, ride a horse, or jump into a swimming pool.

what ever you want to do...we just want to capture some amazing photographs of whatever you have in mind.

do we get digital files of our photos?

all of our wedding collections include high-resolution digital files for your personal use, delivered on a usb stick, digital download, or other media of your choosing. your photographs will also be available in a private online gallery for you to view and share with family and friends. your family and friends will also be able to order their own copies of digital files, prints, and wall art, from a single photograph to a bunch, directly from your personal online gallery.

because we believe that your wedding photographs should not be locked away in your computer and should be seen, you can also order prints, amazing wall art, even phone covers directly from your personal gallery and have them shipped to your home. we will work with you to get you the beautiful fine art prints you want.

can you stylize our photographs with "instagram-type" filters?

there are a lot effects and filters being used in photography today, some enhance a photograph, some don't. many effects, while cool today, will lose their appeal in a few years like any passing fad. we will capture your photographs in timeless perfection. if you would like us to add some effects to selected photographs, we can do that. we have a library of "instagram type" filters we can use.

you will always receive the original photograph before the effects are applied as well. we don't want any of our clients to look at their photographs in 20 years and say "what was our photographer thinking?", styles come and go, timeless is...well...timeless.

how many photos will you take during our wedding?

we don't have a limit or charge extra for taking more photographs, we take lots of photographs, sometimes multiple of the same pose, to ensure we have a good selection to choose from and to make sure we get the right expressions (the ones with your eyes open), and the ones that capture the emotion of the day. you would be amazed how a momentary subtle glance can tell a story!

it is not uncommon for us to take a few thousand photographs during a long wedding and reception, however, we typically deliver 400-800 finished photographs (depending on the length of the wedding), wedding albums will typically need 75 to 120 of your photographs to tell the story of your day. we will take some photographs with specific purposes in mind as well, for example those epic images that you might want on your wall or as a big spread in your album.

do you offer wedding albums? yes!

after consulting with you and providing you with our numerous wedding album options, we will personally design your album in-house using your favorite photographs from the wedding, reception, and after shoot if you like. you will have the opportunity to proof and make changes to the album design before we have it printed. we have searched and reviewed the best premier wedding album printers on the planet. our albums are hand-crafted and designed to last 100 years, something your grandchildren will be able to enjoy.

do you only photograph weddings?

while we specialize in weddings and engagements, we also photograph families, maternity sessions, graduation and seniors, family events, people and their pets, and also stunning studio portraiture. we love telling a story with beautiful photographs.

do you have back-up camera equipment?

yes! we never leave home without it! let's face it - mechanical and electronic equipment can fail. on your wedding day, there are no "do-overs", if your photographer does not have backup gear, well. we have back ups for virtually everything we use...cameras, lenses, batteries, memory cards, lighting equipment.

our venue requires all our vendors to have liability insurance, do you have insurance?

yes we do. many wedding and reception venues will require your vendors, even your photographer, to have insurance. it's just part of doing business these days. we will work with your venue to ensure proper insurance certificates are provided - one less thing for your to worry about!
